Cast Nylon Profiles: Nylatech Oil Grades

Nylatech oil grades are a perfect choice for applications where maintenance lubrication is difficult or impossible. The oil grades of cast nylon are specially formulated to limit moisture absorption so they can be used in moist or water-submerged environments.

Here are 2 varieties of oil-grade Nylatech cast nylon plastics:

Nylatech Oil

In Nylatech-Oil, the lubrication is encapsulated in the cast nylon during manufacturing to provide true lubrication on load bearing surfaces. Its self-lubrication helps to reduce “slip stick” and virtually reduces or eliminates the need for manual lubrication of the part. Its pigmentation gives it an olive green color.

Nylatech Natural-Oil

This cast nylon variant is approved for food and beverage applications. Nylatech Natural-Oil is made without pigment so it confirms to FDA Regulations 21 CFR, Sec.177.15 and USDA 3A Sanitary Standards 20-17 for direct contact with food. It can replace stainless steel in food processing applications. Because Nylatech Natural-Oil is unpigmented, it comes in an off-white color.

Applications for Nylatech Oil and Natural-Oil include:

  • Bearings and bushings
  • Bottling, canning, packing,processing
  • Friction / wear applications (in marine environments)
  • Gears, sprockets and power transmission components

Nylatech MD-Oil

Nylatech MD-Oil is characterized by a dark navy blue color and is one of the most popular standard grades of Nylatech Cast Nylon. This special formulation is a hybrid of MD and OIL grades. It takes its high compressive strength and load bearing properties from MD and adds the liquid lubrication of oil grades.

Nylatech MD-Oil works well even in high load and low RPM applications and can work as a replacement for MD in heavy duty friction generation applications. Other suggested applications for Nylatech MD-Oil include:

  • Pillow blocks
  • Trunnion bearings
  • Rope sheaves, pulleys, sprockets
  • Slipper pads
  • Dryer bushings
